Award-winning play, with First Coast setting, moves north

 

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Jacksonville native and current Clay County resident, playwright Elaine Smith, is chosen for the Northern Writes New Works Festival, June 18-23, 2012, by the Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor, Maine.  Elaine’s award-winning play, “Angels and Ministers of Grace Defend Us,” is a serio-comic family drama set on a First Coast-area farm reminiscent of her grandparents’ homestead outside of Green Cove Springs.

With so many Halloween Events and Fall Festivals happening across the First Coast this weekend and through the end of October, there are too many to keep up with and list. The Postal Service is asking Americans for suggestions on who should be the first living person to be honored on a U.S. postage stamp. Until now, a person has to have been dead for five years before appearing on a stamp.
