Search for the Most Innovative "Green" Office Product

With a goal of searching worldwide for the next great idea for environmentally preferable office products, Staples is giving Jacksonville-area college students an opportunity to compete for a $25,000 grand prize if they submit a 1,000 word description of their idea by Dec. 23, 2010.

Through January 9 – Prehistoric Predators – Walk alongside the dinosaurs!  Encounter a soaring Pteranodon with a 23-foot wingspan, a Maiasaura mother caring for her hatchlings, a Pachycephalosaurus, Apatosaurus, Albertosaurus and more in the limited-engagement exhibit, Prehistoric Predators.  Dinosaur models are handcrafted based on fossil records and equipped with internal computers, making them look – and sound – like the magnificent beasts that once roamed Earth! 

Wednesdays – Half-Price Half Days – Beginning at noon each Wednesday when school is in session, students receive 50% off MOSH's regular admission prices. Reduced rates are $4.00 for students 3-12 and $5.00 for students 13 and over. Students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Discount may be applied toward college students with id.

Green Cove Springs Farmers Market Saturday, November 13th

Fleming Island High School 11th Grader to Host Hunger Banquet

After experiencing an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet this summer at a H.O.B.Y leadership conference, Fleming Island High School 11th grader Amy Nicotra decided to put on a Hunger Banquet at her own school. This has never been done before at Fleming Island High School, however Nicotera has registered anoutstanding 330+ 9th-12th grade students to attend.

The event is on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1:45 until 3:30 PM at Fleming Island High School. Participants will experience the issues of world hunger and poverty through an emotional program. Along with the program, the "cost" of the event is 2 canned food items per person. We are donating all of the canned food items to the Green Coves Spring Food Bank to feed families for the upcoming holidays. Panera, Moes, and Winn-Dixie are our sponsors.

Legally Blonde The Musical Coming to Jax Jan. 16th

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL will begin performances at Jacksonville’s Times Union Center’s Moran Theater on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 and will play through Sunday, January 16, 2011. Tickets go on sale Sunday, November 7, 2010.

St. Johns River Blues Festival; Friday, November 19th thru Sunday, November 21st

An exciting two nights and two days of great, home grown blues is planned for Palatka during the 1st Annual, 2010

National recording artist and Jacksonville native, “Ben Robinson”, Kingsnake Records recording artist, from Savannah, “Eric Culberson”, Gainesville’s “Bridgett Kelly & Tim Fik” and from Ocala, The Delta Blues Legend, “Willie Green” headline the evening shows. The Kim Ricks Blues Band, The Blues-O-matics, Franc Robert, Rocco Blu, Lil Jake and the Soul Searchers, The Georgia Allstars, Blues Lightning, The A1A Blues Band, The SPHammond Band, The Alligator Cowboys, Tropical Whiskey, The Whiskey River Band, Out of the Blue, The Florida Tazers, The Wayne Johnson Band and Shelby and the Mustangs, compete for more than $6000.00 in prizes, bookings and concert appearances donated by The Arts Council of Greater Palatka, Downtown Blues Bar & Grill and Medusa Studios on our two downtown Palatka Stages.

Hubbard House Announces Winner in Youth Art Contest

Mariah Blanton, an 8-year-old from Glen St. Mary, Florida, is the grand prize winner in Hubbard House’s first-ever Domestic Violence Awareness Month Youth Art Contest. She will receive a party for 10 at Jungle Quest, an indoor facility for kids that offers rock climbing, zip lines, tree houses and more.
