Heather Harley-Davidson's Art Gallery Opening, Nov. 13th

Historic Grounds Books and Gifts present their new expansion "Heather Harley-Davidson's Art Gallery” opening in Green Cove Springs, November 13th from 4 to 9pm.  The celebration will host a dozen North Florida Local Authors signing their books with artists featured Heather Harley Harley-Davidson, Charlie Price, Cathy Marsh, Cherrie Sterling & a few more tba.  The North Florida's Writers Association will be having their November meeting, immediate prior to the event.  Public is welcome and encouraged to support their local talent.

The Historic Grounds Book's and Gifts is in the Heart of Green Cove Springs, and it operates  out of Green Cove Spring's first Opera House built in 1910, and hosts a local author the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Local Author Releases Second Novel "Water Hazard" Nov. 13th

Local author Tim Baker will be releasing his second novel entitled “Water Hazard” on November 13, 2010.

Christian Recording Artist Eva Pike To Record Music Video At Florida Baptist Children’s Homes

On Friday, October 15, 2010, up and coming Christian recording artist Eva Kroon Pike will be recording her music video “Grace That Chose Me” at Huguenot Park and also at Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. Her video will feature adoptive families and also foster children living at Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. 

“Grace That Chose Me” is a song about adoption. Eva has chosen adoption as her platform, since she herself was adopted at 10 weeks of age. The music video will also feature Eva with her adopted mother. She has chosen Florida Baptist Children’s Homes as her charity of choice.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month Youth Art Contest

Hubbard House announced September 20th the launch of its first-ever Domestic Violence Awareness Month Youth Art Contest in an effort to raise awareness about domestic violence among youth.

The contest, open to youth ages 5-12 living in Northeast Florida, runs from Sept. 20 through Oct. 21 and highlights Hubbard House’s newest prevention program WAVE (Working Against Violence Every day, Everywhere, Every time). The program teaches youth healthy relationship skills before abuse occurs, how to identify and prevent bullying and helps them gain a better understanding of how violence affects their lives.

Flagler College Film Festival to begin screening on Sept. 30

Flagler College will unspool its first edition of the Flagler College Film Festival (FCFF) Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, with 22 films from around the world and right next door.

Partially funded by the Arnold and Barbara Grevior Fund for Film Studies, FCFF will present films in five venues on campus and downtown St. Augustine.

The films will represent 11 countries.  Screenings will take place in the Flagler College Auditorium, Gamache-Koger Theater in the Student Center, The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, outdoors on the college's West Lawn and at the St Augustine Art Association Gallery, 22 Marine St.

Tickets are $3 with a current Flagler College ID, $7 for seniors and other faculty and $9 general admission. Admission to the children's film is $1 per child and $3 for accompanying adults. For the environmental film, "Turtle: The Incredible Journey," tickets are just $3 for children. The Festival accepts all major credit cards as well as checks and cash.

New TV Season Brings New Hits and Duds


DOA. Every season brings a couple of clunkers. Last week brought four: Fox's Lone Star (4.1 million viewers) was the weakest of the bunch — and became the season's first casualty Tuesday, to be replaced by Lie to Me starting next week. But ABC's The Whole Truth and My Generation and NBC's Outlaw, in Friday's time-slot debut, are all on life support.
