State Farm Now Accepting Applications for Youth Advisory Board Members

The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is seeking Board Members to serve through 2013.

“Being on the State Farm Youth Advisory Board has allowed me to share my passion for service-learning with other highly motivated young people, and helped develop me as an individual,” said Erin Drake, a current Board member. “It’s enlightening to see a corporation that realizes the power youth can bring in creating long-lasting change.”

Hundreds Greet Jacksonville Sharks at JIA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sharks are back in the River City as ArenaBowl XXIV champions. The team landed at the Jacksonville International Airport around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Hundreds of fans waited to greet them at the gate and erupted in cheers and applause when the team came into the terminal shortly before midnight.   

Jacksonville Sharks Head Coach Les Moss tells First Coast News he was blown away by the show of support. "This is great," said Moss. "This is great for Jacksonville and obviously our franchise. These fans are the best in the league."

TODAY: Local Family Hosts Benefit to Support Hospitalized Son

The family and friends of Brian Kelley are hosting an all-day charity event on Saturday, August 13 at the Clay County Fairgrounds to relieve Kelley’s family from mounting medical bills.

There will be live entertainment from local bands from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. along with food, face painting, bounce houses, dunking booths, raffles, an auction and a car show.

Kelley, father of two children, is currently in a coma due to a severe automotive accident that occurred July 25 where he was life-flighted to Shands Trauma ICU.

“Cruisin’ Back to School!” Car Show and Charity Event

August 20th 2011 “Cruisin’ Back to School!” Car Show and Charity Event being held at Garber Automall, 3380 Highway 17 Green Cove Springs, FL, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. This event is being held to benefit Charles E. Bennett Elementary School.  Charles E. Bennett Elementary is located in downtown Green Cove Springs, FL and does not currently have a functioning Parent Faculty Association. Due to the lack of involvement in the school it is very difficult for the school to raise much needed funds throughout the year to benefit the students.  Garber Automall in conjunction with our sponsors are filling that void for the year of 2011, by hosting the “Cruisin’ Back to School!” Car Show and Charity Event.
