St. Augustine Police Investigating Unattended Death

Police have arrested a man in the death of a 44-year-old found Saturday night.

Matthew Steven Horn, 44, was arrested in the death of 61-year-old Douglas Wilfred Cracraft, who was found lying in a wooded area, according to a statement today from the St. Augustine Police Department.

Following an autopsy, police determined the death was a homicide.

The body was found in a wooded area west of the railroad tracks behind 3551 North Ponce De Leon Blvd. on the property of the Florida East Coast Railroad, the statement said.

Clay County Man Facing Child Sex Abuse Charges

A 31-year-old man is facing capital sexual battery charges, according to a police report from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Kramer, 31, of Taveres, Fla., was extradited from the Clark County jail in Las Vegas to face the local, pending charges. Kramer was being held there on a fugative warrant.

A CCSO report details the physical and sexual abuse he is accused of. He is charged with capital sexual battery. The police report said the victim reported that the sexual abuse started when he was about 8 or 9 years old.

A multi –agency investigation is underway. Kramer is being held on a bond of over $500,000 in Clay County.

A Clay County man is in custody after being arrested on a warrant for voyeurism.

According to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office police report, 41-year-old Mark Howard Myers is accused of using a cell phone camera to look up a woman’s skirt and take photos.

The report said Myers was captured on surveillance video following the victim around a Kangaroo store on Wells Road taking pictures of her by placing his cell phone under her skirt.

At one point, the report said, Myers pretended to drop a newspaper then placed his cell phone under the victim’s skirt.

Neptune Beach Detective Arrested in Illegal Gambling Operation

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. -- A Neptune Beach detective with eight years on the force found herself on the other side of the law Monday.

Mary Justino, spokesperson for the Clay County Sheriff's Office, said Camille Lynn Burban turned herself in to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Burban had a warrant out for her arrest in Clay County, and now faces a charge of being an agent or employee of a person keeping a gambling house. Her significant other, George Chipley McCombs, turned himself in to deputies in Nassau County on a similar charge out of Clay County.

Business records show McCombs owns Number One Vending, which does business as Home Arcade at 8955 Beach Blvd.

According to a report from the CCSO, two businesses in Keystone Heights, the White Elephant bar and the Keystone Saloon, had illegal gambling machines that deputies allege came from Number One Vending.

Copper Thieves Leave Downtown Business Owners HOT

PALATKA, FL- Over the course of the last few weeks there was a string of vandalisms/burglaries across the Downtown Palatka area. The thieves were only after one thing though, copper, and took their time taking only that, bringing the tools they needed to disassemble air-conditioning and refrigeration units and leaving business owners and residents in the area HOT.

Sometime late in the night September 21st or early in the morning the 22nd the copper thieves took their toll on The American Legion Bert Hodge Post 45. They disassembled two 5 ton air conditioning units, taking the copper from the inside and leaving the rest behind. They also stole all the copper gas lines that were used for heating and cooking at the Post according to Commander Chuck Frames.
