Human remains unearthed at Clay County home | News
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Investigators unearthed human remains Wednesday morning after receiving a tip that someone was buried behind a Green Cove Springs home, authorities said.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office started investigating after an outside agency contacted deputies with information that a former resident, identified as Janell Adams, had been buried in a backyard on Creekfront Drive, investigators said.
Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the remains belong to Adams, a Sheriff's Office spokesperson said. They're being examined by the Medical Examiner's office.
Adams' son, Brian Adams, remains in police custody in Columbus County, North Carolina on unrelated charges, deputies said. He's being held on $150,000 bond for being a fugitive from another state. His involvement in the case is not yet clear.
Neighbors told First Coast News that deputies have visited the home several times this week. The home was sold more than a year ago. The investigation does not involve the home's current residents, deputies said.
