Nearly 600 Clay County residences damaged by Debby | News

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- After completing initial damage estimates, Clay County Emergency Management has reported 579 residences were damaged by Debby.

Clay County Emergency Management officials said of those 579 residences, 100 sustained major damage or have been destroyed by flood waters.

The American Red Cross and Clay County Emergency Management are working together to find temporary housing for any families who have not already found a temporary place to leave.

During the assessment, county officials also determined it will cost over $4 million in infrastructure repairs and debris removal from Debby. Emergency management officials said they expect that number to rise as damage estimates continue and flood waters recede.

Due to the expectations that damage estimates will increase, Clay County is requesting and evaluation by State of Florida and FEMA Assessment teams. Having the assessments will allow Clay County to be included in Governor Scott's request to President Obama for a disaster declaration.
