Award-winning play, with First Coast setting, moves north

 

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Jacksonville native and current Clay County resident, playwright Elaine Smith, is chosen for the Northern Writes New Works Festival, June 18-23, 2012, by the Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor, Maine.  Elaine’s award-winning play, “Angels and Ministers of Grace Defend Us,” is a serio-comic family drama set on a First Coast-area farm reminiscent of her grandparents’ homestead outside of Green Cove Springs.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Department of Children and Families employees from all over the state came together in Tallahassee today to test the agency’s “Food for Florida” disaster preparation operations. The program allows DCF to provide emergency food assistance to families in need after a hurricane or another disaster.
