All American Games Present the got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition

Get your routines ready because here's something to cheer about! "got milk?" and the All American Games have teamed up for the 2010 got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition - a chance for two cheer squads from across America to show what you've got on the sidelines of the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 8, 2011.

To enter the competition, just upload a video of your best routine on beginning November 1. Cheer squads and fans can also view all the entries and vote for your favorite routine! Voting ends on December 8, so go, fight, WIN!

The two winning squads will be announced after December 17, 2010.

UNF to Host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!

The University of North Florida’s College of Education and Human Services will host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!, a writing camp to aid fourth through eighth graders to become better FCAT and lifelong writers, from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning Saturday, Jan. 22, and running through Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in the College of Education and Human Services, Building 57, Room 1100A on the UNF campus.

Wounded Warrior Project Announces Scholarship

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is proud to announce a $1,000 scholarship and essay contest for high school seniors. The scholarship is open to public, private, and home schooled students in the Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. John’s Counties in Florida.

Students are being asked to submit a 500 word essay answering the question, “Why is it important to honor our Veterans?” Deadline for the essay is February 21, 2011.  A panel of judges will then honor the top essay from each county with a $1,000 scholarship award which winners can use at any college, technical school or university nationwide.

With a goal of searching worldwide for the next great idea for environmentally preferable office products, Staples is giving Jacksonville-area college students an opportunity to compete for a $25,000 grand prize if they submit a 1,000 word description of their idea by Dec. 23, 2010.

Fleming Island High School 11th Grader to Host Hunger Banquet

After experiencing an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet this summer at a H.O.B.Y leadership conference, Fleming Island High School 11th grader Amy Nicotra decided to put on a Hunger Banquet at her own school. This has never been done before at Fleming Island High School, however Nicotera has registered anoutstanding 330+ 9th-12th grade students to attend.

The event is on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1:45 until 3:30 PM at Fleming Island High School. Participants will experience the issues of world hunger and poverty through an emotional program. Along with the program, the "cost" of the event is 2 canned food items per person. We are donating all of the canned food items to the Green Coves Spring Food Bank to feed families for the upcoming holidays. Panera, Moes, and Winn-Dixie are our sponsors.

Clay High Football Coach Matt Toblin Wired for Sound

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Clay High School football coach Matt Toblin has led the Blue Devils to a district championship in each of his first two seasons at the school.

During Clay's win over Nease on Friday night, Coach Toblin agreed to wear a wireless microphone so the First Coast News viewers could hear what he was saying throughout the game.
