Clouds, Storms, Skies, and Debris After The Nor'easter

Monday October 10 - 5:30 p.m.

Monday evening, after a weekend of grey cloudy weather, the St. John's river was a serene sight. There were a few clouds far off in the distance but the blue sky was a refreshing sight as the weather started to clear up after the long wet weekend.

The St. John's River was an amazing calm sight as the sun began to set over Columbus day. You can see the storms building to the west blocking out the sunset.

The sun was trying to shine but the clouds were growing quickly and blocking it out.

One thing we did not experience much of during the weekend storms was lightning, but there was plenty of lightning and thunder with this system Monday to make up for it.

And the rain has began on the freshly planted crops in the Hastings area. I'm sure the farmers appreciate that.

The thunder and lightning is beginning to get intense, even the birds were flying away. No more blue sky here.

A big grey low hanging cloud forming up to the South was making it get dark just a little early.

Entering East Palatka on 207 the wind was picking up rapidly and it seemed like we were driving into the shelve cloud.

The St. John's River was a truly serene sight. With low hanging dark storm clouds it was as calm as could be. You can see the clouds reflecting off the water.

Driving through Downtown Palatka, it looks like it is raining right up the road.

Wet, Nasty, Rainy Roads. In the distance you can see that there are still blue skies to the far North but the dark shelve cloud lingered over Palatka and dumped plenty of rain.

This picture was taken early Tuesday. There was no rain, wind or sign of stormy weather. The tree was dead and so saturated with rain water from the previous days of storms it just could not stand any longer.

The massive rotten tree blocking the road. It fell sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The tree was already broken half way. This time it broke off right at the base.

Neighbors talking about moving the tree out of the road. It was just too big and heavy so we called the County and they came and got it out of the road. This is just one of the several trees that have fallen since the storm that began Friday.

After a stormy wet weekend, the First Coast started the week with the uncertainty of how the weather will act. The winds were still gusty, the rains were still frequent, and the water was beginning to gather where the grounds are saturated and storm drains full.
Trees and debris left behind by the strong storm winds to be cleaned up were around every corner, and many were still without power.

These pictures were taken across the area of some of the storms, clouds, skies, and debris early this week as the First Coast patiently waited for the weekend storms to pass and worked to clean up the mess left behind.
